Glenarigolach is by far the most extensive settlement N & E of the Gruinard River. It comprises of a complex field system with many enclosures and several buildings.
In an attempt to make sense of this sprawling site (covering about 3 square km), it has been divided into 9 sectors (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, 3f, 3g, 3h & 3i) for convenience.
The heart of the settlement 3f, is surrounded by several satellite enclosures.
The remains of over 20 buildings and other domestic structures make up the heart of Glenarigolach (3f).
A corn-drying kiln and rig & furrow cultivation indicate a thriving community at some point in recent history.
Image above shows 3f, with 3g & 3h to the north. Notice that one of the 3h enclosures has a roundhouse just within the field boundary
